The varied habitats of Uganda’s oldest forest mean it is the ideal habitat for a variety of birds, with 350 species recorded, including 23 endemics (90% of all Albertine Rift endemics) such as the Short-tailed Warbler and Blue-headed Sun bird as well as seven IUCN red data listed species. Our 11 Days Uganda Bird Watching Safari takes you to Semuliki National Park, Lake Mburo National Park among other places. Also you will be taken to the Mabamba Wetland Swamp for the rare Shoebill. You will have an opportunity to meet Africa’s rarest Shoebill. Both the game drives and the launch trips offer an opportunity for one to come across distinct bird life in Uganda, including Savannah forest birds, water birds and Albertine Rift endemics. Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport – Entebbe

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide who will then take you to Protea hotel in Entebbe (High end) for an overnight stay. Meal plan BB


Day 2: Kampala – Semuliki National Park

Leave Entebbe after breakfast for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta enroute to Fort portal we shall go birding along the way and reach Semliki in the evening. We Check into Semliki Safari Lodge. In the night we bird in the savanna looking for nightjars and owls. Overnight at Semliki Safari Lodge (high end) Meal plan: (B, L, D)


Day 3: Semuliki National Park

Today morning is entirely dedicated for birding. You will carry packed lunch and head for a full day birding in the forest. A chance of birding the main road or one of the trails in the forest. We might come across the African Emerald Cuckoo, Purple-headed Starling, Black-billed Turaco, Yellow-billed Barbet, Grey-throated Barbet among out countless bird species. Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forests

Morning transfer to Kibale Forest. In the afternoon, we may choose to go to Bigodi Wetland or take one of the trails in the Park to look for the stunning Green-breasted Pitta, Fire-crested Alethe, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, colorful butterflies and other species of primates. Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park

In the morning you will have breakfast to transfer to Kibale Head quarters for briefing before setting off for a forest walk in search for chimpanzees. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small organisms making it interesting. The walk will reward you with other primates like Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, phoestes, and butterflies. After tracking the chimps in the afternoon you will go for a guided walk in the crater lakes area of the park for outstanding visit. Meals and over night at Nyaika Hotel (High end). A stunning location overlooking a dramatic Crater Lake and the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”. Meal plan: (B, L, D)


Day 6: Kibale Forest National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today’s drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach to the volcanoes in which live the mountain gorillas. Make a game drive at Ishasha on your way to Bwindi in search of the tree climbing lions. Later, drive to Bwindi via the beautiful scenery of the tea plantations. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge (high end) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner


Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 a.m with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. There are now only 650 left in the world! The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but it’s well worth the effort. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge (high end) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.


Day 8: Whole Day Birding Experience

Early breakfast, which gets you descends and ascends you through the magical cultivated hills it’s a beautiful drive through the neck of the impenetrable forest, it gets you to a point of over 2650 meters above sea level with the Mist where the Gorillas live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. As we check out some soaring buzzards, flocks of stuhlmanns starlings with Arial displays. We could assemble to head for the Mubwindi swamp for the highest concentration of the Albertin endemics aiming to grip on the African green broadbill, Frasers eagle owl, black billed turaco and Rwenzori batis In the evening we could track the calls of the Rwenzori night jar. This Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hog; forest Elephants, Statungas and Dikers. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge (high end) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner


Day 9: Bwindi Forest – Lake Mburo National Park

We have an early transfer between 7am – 8:30 am, after breakfast transfer to Lake Mburo, the ‘Zebra magnet’. Continuing on we reach Lake Mburo and drive out to the vast savannah dotted with acacia and shrubs, as we game drive in for view of Zebras, Topis, Warthogs, cape buffaloes and impalas. In the afternoon it is time for a boat-cruise on the lake where the must see is the African finfoot. As well as this we see native birds along the banks, Crocodiles, Hippos yawning and more birds during this 2 hours cruise. Overnight and meals at Mihingo Safari Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner


Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park

Early morning game safari, get up early focusing on the Rwizi track it’s a dense population of some rare birds here, Tabora cisticola, Crested barbet, Red headed weavers, cuckoo shrikes etc chance to see Leopards, zebras, waterbucks, birds, buffaloes in there day break jungle life! Overnight and meals at Mihingo Safari Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner


Day 11: Lake Mburo National Park – Mabamba Wetland – Entebbe Airport Out

We have an early transfer to Mabamba wetland swamp of Mabamba enroute to Entebbe Airport The highlight at Mabamba Swamp is a search for the prehistoric looking Great shoebill stork. Here we also find some aquatic birds and marsh Harriers, if time allow search for the beautiful painted Pygmy goose. A stopover at the Equator monument is a must. You will be later be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home. Meal plan: Breakfast & Lunch. End of your safari
